I love doing these Behind The Scenes Awesomeness posts, its so cool to go behind the scenes with these pics, sometimes we take for granted just how much work goes into making these movies...more so with old movies that relied on practial effects, Total Recall had so many techniques incorporated into its making...make up effects, matte paintings, miniatures, computer generated effects....awesome art direction...I mean, it was a gargantuan project.

I'm not saying that making CGI is easy, but practical effects and paintings is just an art by itself.

Exactly, which is why I appreciate them a bit more, not to put down CGI, but practical effects was hard work! Plus, the end result is visibly tangible, they look waaay more "there" than computer effects.
