I never understood the one about the box of chocolates because theres always a leaflet in every box telling you what flavour each chocolate is, coffee, orange, strawberry, etc.
ReplyDelete@ Jennifer: lol :D
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, nice compilation there. I love 90s movies, they just make me feel sort of at home. Although I don't remember much of my life in that decade, but maybe I have a special connection to it because I was born in it... ?
Francisco, off topic admittedly, i just watched "Starcrash" (1979) on YouTube and it was surprisingly good. By the way, i want to bugger Caroline Munro (as the bird was in 1967 when the bird was 18, not as the bird is now obviously). Its incredible to realise that in 1979 when "Starcrash" was made Caroline was 30 and there-fore already 12 years past her prime, SCARY ! ! !.
ReplyDeleteFrancisco, you forgot the best quote of all, from Terence Malicks 1998 war masterwork: "The Thin Red Line", Nick Nolte (playing the general) says to one of his sub-ordinates: "Major, you dont have to question whether my orders are right or not from now on, we`ll assume it, OK ! ! !", the power of that line never ceases to astonish me.
ReplyDeleteman i miss the 90s,tomorrow can you finally do a review on The Last Boy Scout?
ReplyDeleteB.A, "The Last Boy Scout" is NOT repeat NOT a good film, it simply isn`t worth bothering about.
ReplyDeleteJennifer: also, with a box of chocolates you always know that you are gonna get chocolates! Hello!
ReplyDeleteMette: I feel the same with movies from the 80's and 90's, they feel at home cause you saw them when you were growing up. They stay in our psyche somehow, engraved.
Jervaise: Glad you enjoyed it, I reviewed it a while back (in fact its one of my most read reviews!) we could continue our Star Crash conversation over there, but yeah, fun movie, glad you liked it!
Jimmie: I need to see The Thin Red Line! I mean really see it, the first time I saw it, for some reason I couldnt connect with it, but since then, my appreciation for Malick has increased, I loved The Tree of Life, so I will be re-watching that one soon, expect a review for it as soon as I see it. Thanks for posting your 90's quote!
BA James: You know what man, for monday for sure! Expect it monday! That's a film connoisseur promise! I finally re-watched it and have tons to say about it.
Eddie Lydecker: I wouldnt call it bad, but it is what can be referred to as pulp fiction, an action movie, it has all the things that distinguish a Shane Black scripted film, but more on that on my review for it on Monday!
Thanks for all your replies!
Francisco, i know this is gonna` make sound a bit odd, but i`ve always thought that "Reservoir Dogs" was totally unwatchable garbage. Kubricks "The Killing" (Tarantinos supposed inspiration) is still an infinitely better film. By the way, there are a lot of other films on that list that are ludicrously over-rated in my opinion as well.
ReplyDeleteFrancisco, i know what you mean, its just that, as i always interpreted it, i thought he knew he had a box of chocolates in front of him but he was saying that he didn`t know what flavour chocolate he was going to get whenever he ate one, where-as, like i said, the leaflet in every box would`ve told him what flavour each chocolate was going to be, there-fore all he had to do was refer to it every time he ate one. I just wanted to specifically clarify that.
ReplyDeleteFrancisco, just one other thing with regards to the whole 'box of chocolates' question, theres a general consensus amongst the vast majority of people that nobody likes hard centres or the Turkish Delight flavours, so why do they keep putting those ones in the boxes ?, surely you would have thought it would be really easy for them to replace those unpopular chocolates with another orange and strawberry creme instead ! ! !.
ReplyDeleteJimmie: Can't agree with you there man, Reservoir Dogs is awesome in my book, amazing performances...tense moments...great dialog, funny...I love that one.
ReplyDeleteJennifer: I hear ya Jenny! LOL.
