  1. Good subject for a post, and a nice choice of images. The posters for 'The Descent', 'Shrooms' and 'Pathology' function brilliantly by suggesting skulls rather than explicitly showing them. In fact, 'Shrooms' and 'Pathology' have the dubious distinction of boasting posters that are more iconic than anything in the movies themselves!

  2. Yeah, that happens a lot with movie posters, some of them (specially the horror movie posters) can sometimes be better then the movie they are promoting.

Example: Laid to Rest was the biggest piece of crap horror movie Id seen in a while, but that poster kicks all sorts of ass. Chrome Skull was a good idea for a character, visually, but the film failed to impress me, save for a few well executed gory kills, the film reeks.

My favorite of these skull poster will always be the one for Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn.

  5. My diminutive skeletal friend, Bill E. Bones, was jumping ugly on me to post a comment on, in his words, "The single best post on this blog, or any blog, that he has ever read"! Of the posters you posted, I never saw that version of The Decent, which is my favorite horror movie of the lot. The two super(?)hero films, Ghost Rider and The Punisher are two of the worst Marvel film adaptations ever! I agree with you, Francisco. The Evil Dead poster is a monsterpiece!

  8. Ive always loved THE SCREAMING SKULL's cover, beautiful and classic! Hate THE DESCENT, it just became tired in that one, but SHROOMS did something unique with it that I liked as well
