This is an awful film, in fact its beyond awful. A grotesque and pointless exercise in CGI masturbation. I don't think it even looks that good actually. Still, I found Immortals visually interesting.

I havent seen The Fall yet (going to this week) but so far The Cell is Tarsem's most visually interesting film to date.

Thanks for commenting!Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-35389406619628073152011-12-05T04:16:15.485-08:002011-12-05T04:16:15.485-08:00@The Sci-Fi Fanatic: Thanks for the kind words, I ...@The Sci-Fi Fanatic: Thanks for the kind words, I aim to please! They interview him on the dvd extras, and they kept begging him to give a straight answers to the questions they were asking him instead of a funny ones he was giving. And he's like, okay, I'll give you a straight one and a funny one and then you use the one you want how's that?

Agree about JLo, this and Out of Sight were her brightest days in the sun, after that she just gave in to making all those romantic comedies, and she hasnt turned back.Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-11478990678325030912011-12-02T08:26:18.292-08:002011-12-02T08:26:18.292-08:00I quite enjoyed this film as well. The style certainly trumps everything else in this film but that is not to take away from the performances, namely JLo who is actually quite good. Between this and OUT OF SIGHT (and also BLOOD & WINE), she demonstrated some actual acting chops. I also really thought Vince Vaughn was excellent. It's a shame that he doesn't do more dramatic parts as he did a good job in this film. I guess he figures that people only want him to see do comedies - go with his strengths as it were but hopefully someone will persuade him to do another dramatic role.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-52637149460222998042011-12-01T13:11:17.854-08:002011-12-01T13:11:17.854-08:00Thanks Dom, though I dont agree with that point of...Thanks Dom, though I dont agree with that point of view so much because the film does have a couple of things to say, and a lot of that is said through the visuals. It made such an impact on me when I first saw it, and to this day, some of the images from it imprinted themselves on my pink-matter.
Some of those stills you included in your review are just fantastic.

I also love the reference to Fantastic Planet near the beginning when Jennifer Lopez is 'unwinding' at home. ;)James Graceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08968719719213071671noreply@blogger.com
