I remember loving the hell out of it when I saw it the first time during the 90's, but sadly, the film has apparently dissapeared along with VHS.Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-456485814976317992011-09-09T09:33:17.347-07:002011-09-09T09:33:17.347-07:00For some reason I have never seen Vampire's Ki...For some reason I have never seen Vampire's Kiss, but I keep seeing it on people's top 10 lists. Another one I would have added: THIRST, by Chan Wook Park, now theres an unorthodox vampire tale, loved it! Leave to the director of OLDBOY to make such a unique vampire tale! One of the first movies that comes to mind is THE ADDICTION but I see that JD was quick to bring it up! Overall, a great list and I love quite a few of the movies on it. LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH is one of my favorites and it's such a great atmospheric horror film, but I don't see how it would fit in on a vampire list. Whatever the case, it's a great movie nonetheless. That scene where this vampire is so lustful for blood that he wipes some blood off of the floor of a public bathroom is freaking grose as hell!Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-46194925752152902022010-07-17T12:01:33.186-07:002010-07-17T12:01:33.186-07:00LUST FOR A VAMPIRE has a very nice score, which I ...LUST FOR A VAMPIRE has a very nice score, which I feel is the only thing it has going for it. That, and a hilarious, yet brief shot at the end where the director and virtually the entire crew are seen to the left of the screen.

ZOMBIE LAKE...I saw that the same day I saw Franco's OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES; virtually the exact same movie, but I liked it a bit better. That's not a recommendation, mind you!

THE VAMPIRE (1956) I like a lot. The whole atmosphere of Mexi horrors is unique. I love their vampire movies as seemingly each one of them brings something different to the mythology. I've reviewed around 7 or 8 of them at my site, but they never get read much. I do them because I like them. They are occasionally cheesy, but lovable just the same. A shame about CasaNegra. That label was a blessing for Mexi-horror lovers, but they didn't last very long. There were two releases that were ready to go, but when they closed up shop, those two got canceled.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-19294236046653611342010-07-17T10:32:37.979-07:002010-07-17T10:32:37.979-07:00I have seen VAMPIRE LOVERS and love it to death, i...I have seen VAMPIRE LOVERS and love it to death, its one of my favorite Hammers, along with TWINS OF EVIL, such a pity that it was followed by LUST OF THE VAMPIRE, I haven't seen it, but every where I read about it, somebody says something negative about the film. But Im still curious for it and I will eventually get around to checking it out.

Jess Franco and Jean Rollin, I've never seen either one of their movies, with the possible exception of ZOMBIE LAKE (which I HATE) Jean Rolling directed it and Jess Franco wrote it, but they both hated the result so much that they used a pseudonym to hide the fact that they had made it. And it was a bore of a film!

Thanks for recommending the YORGA movies! I will be checking both of them out as soon as possible! DEATHMASTER as well.

Thanks for commenting and participating on this blog dude! Great job on your choices, I am also intrigued by a lot of them, specially The Vampire, it looks so old school. LUST FOR A VAMP...VAMPIRE LOVERS is awesome, Franco. LUST FOR A VAMPIRE is the second in that Karnstein trilogy, although it's a pretty terrible movie, imo. It's on my 'Worst Hammer' list as is CAPTAIN KRONOS. I like Kronos, but like Shaun and others, Janson was awful (his voice was dubbed, too, if I remember right) amidst other things I felt made it inferior to other movies. I could go on and on about VAMPIRE CIRCUS. Great movie despite the production problems.

Jean Rollin's vampire movies bore me, but he has his share of fans. He's probably the lesbian vampire king in that respect. I put his films in the same category as Jess Franco, although they're better made. So if you like his movies, you will probably like Rollin, too. I've only seen a few of them, but honestly couldn't tell you what any of them were about aside from GRAPES OF DEATH, which, while original and having some nice scenes and scenery, bored me as well.

COUNT YORGA is all kinds of awesome and made millions and prompted Hammer to shift their Count to modern times. RETURN OF COUNT YORGA is a bit better. That NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD sequence with all the female vampires emerging from the Earth and laying siege to the house near the beginning is frighteningly well done and there's no music which amps up the fear factor. The MGM DVD of the first Yorga has more footage that was cut from the previous releases. Quarry was also a hippy vampire in the YORGAesque, THE DEATHMASTER (1972). Definitely seek those YORGA movies out!

Again, thanks for asking me to participate, Franco. It was pleasure to collaborate with both yourself, and Shaun.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-31643993249469661652010-07-16T14:11:02.287-07:002010-07-16T14:11:02.287-07:00@Odenat: Thanks!

By todays standards the whole premise of Charlie asking Peter Vincent to help him kill a vampire just because Peter Vincent is a horror show host seems kind of silly, and it makes Charlie look like some kind of an idiot, but I dont care, I love that movie!

Chris Sarandon is awesome as Dandridge and the make up effects still hold up very well. Plus, its got that 80s old school charm to it.

Colin Farrell will be playing Jerry Dandridge on the remake, lets see how that plays out.Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8293273378239831747.post-39991652147081400552010-07-16T13:59:40.093-07:002010-07-16T13:59:40.093-07:00Wot, no Jean Rollin?
